HPCwire Unveils List of 35 HPC Legends in Celebration of its 35th Anniversary
San Diego, CA — July 23, 2024 – In celebration of its 35th anniversary, HPCwire, the leading publication for news and information for the high performance computing industry, today announced the inaugural HPCwire 35 Legends — an annual list recognizing 35 luminaries who have made HPC what it is today.
Thirty-five honorees will be announced each year, selected by HPCwire editors and advisors based on their contributions to the HPC community over the past 35 years, and celebrated for the different ways they have helped move HPC forward. HPC is a unique market because scientific researchers, HPC customers, and vendors have all combined to advance HPC together, so the HPCwire 35 Legends are researchers, inventors, and executives who have turned ideas into technological and commercial successes.
“Compiling this list has been a personal ride down memory lane. Being at the helm of HPC’s leading news outlet for the last 35 years has been one of the most exciting and rewarding parts of my life — period,” said Tom Tabor, Founder and CEO of Tabor Communications Inc., publishers of HPCwire. “I’ve really savored the opportunity to be in the room with some of the most brilliant people in our industry, all of whom are wholeheartedly committed to improving the quality of life on our planet. Being part of these discussions has been extremely stimulating and fulfilling.”
Due to the difficulty in choosing just 35 HPC rock stars, the HPCwire team decided to launch an annual list, to be able to include all of the very deserving people that did not fit on just one list. This list will continue to grow with 35 new names each year as ever more HPC luminaries continue to make amazing contributions to our industry.
The HPCwire 35 Legends program has been supported by Platinum sponsors Intel and Hammerspace, along with Gold sponsors HPE, NCSA, and Vdura. The First 17 HPCwire35 Legends are listed below, and the balance of the list will be released next month. All will be profiled on the 35 Legends microsite as well as in the downloadable magazine that will be released along with the remainder of the list.
